About us
Two Speech and Language Therapists, one shared practice in Totnes.
We met through our shared interest in counselling and
psychotherapy — and in delivering a trauma-informed,
person-centred approach to Speech and Language Therapy.
Setting up practice together was the natural next step.
Lucinda Broad — Speech and Language Therapist
Hi, I'm Lou. I'm a qualified Speech and Language Therapist with
26 years' experience. I've worked for the NHS in London and
Devon and over the years I've supported a wide range of
people — from school-aged children with speech and language
difficulties to adults adjusting to life after neurological
conditions.
Working with people who stammer has always been a particular
interest of mine, and I'm delighted to make it my specialism.
I've trained in a number of approaches, including the Michael
Palin Parent-Child Interaction (PCI) therapy, the Lidcombe
Programme, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and
Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) — and I've also studied
counselling and psychotherapy.
At the heart of my work is a simple belief: given the right
support, at the right time, people can make real and lasting
changes. My role is to help create the conditions for that to
happen — ideally in a way that feels practical and fulfilling.
I live in Totnes with my teenage daughter (who keeps me
'relevant'), a dog and two cats. In my spare time I'm a keen
potter, and I enjoy getting out for a good hike — preferably
somewhere with a decent view at the top.
Kathryn — Speech and Language Therapist
I'm an experienced Speech and Language Therapist with a
background working across a range of NHS teams in the South
West. My clinical experience includes learning disability
services, inpatient stroke and brain injury rehabilitation, and
community-based therapy.
I support people with a variety of communication needs —
post-stroke and brain injury difficulties, dementia, functional
neurological disorder, progressive neurological conditions, and
stammering. My approach is rooted in the latest evidence-base,
combined with goals that feel personally meaningful and
motivating for the individuals and families I work alongside.
After completing my MSc in Speech and Language Sciences at
University College London in 2018, I swapped the bustle of the
city for a quieter life in Devon. Alongside offering private
Speech and Language Therapy, I spend time with our daughter and
volunteer as a trainee counsellor at Rowcroft Hospice.
Before becoming a parent I loved long coastal walks or exploring
the moors — always ending with a well-earned pint. These days
you're more likely to find me at Pennywell Farm with a strong
coffee in hand.
