One-to-one therapy, tailored to you

What we offer — and the approaches we draw on.

How we work

Every person we work with gets something different, because
every person is different. Below is a snapshot of the areas we
most often help with — but if you're not sure whether what
you're experiencing fits, please get in touch. We'd rather have
a quick chat than have you guess.

Areas we work in

Our combined experience spans children and adults, from
learning disability services and community therapy to
inpatient stroke rehab and specialist stammering support.

Stammering — adults and teenagers

One-to-one therapy that explores speech, thoughts and
feelings — and helps you say what you want, when you want.

Stammering — school-aged children

Building confidence in communication through positive
communication skills, reducing the struggle with talking,
and giving space to explore feelings about speech.

Stammering — pre-school children

Parent-led therapy using Michael Palin PCI and Lidcombe —
giving you the tools to support your child's fluency at home.

Stroke and brain injury

Communication rehab after stroke, brain injury or other
neurological events — in clinic or in your home.

Progressive neurological conditions

Support for people living with dementia, Parkinson's,
functional neurological disorder and other progressive
conditions affecting communication.

Counselling-informed approach

Both of us are trained in counselling and psychotherapy
alongside SLT — so we can sit with the emotional side of
communication difficulties, not just the clinical side.

Our approach

Trauma-informed, person-centred, evidence-based

We draw on a range of approaches depending on what will serve
you best — including the Michael Palin PCI, the Lidcombe
Programme, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and
Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT).

Whichever approach we use, the foundations are the same:
evidence-based practice, goals that feel meaningful to you,
and a genuinely collaborative working relationship.

Frequently asked questions

I'm worried about my young child's speech — should I wait and see?

Many children are dysfluent at some point while developing
language. It's worth getting in touch if your child doesn't
seem to be getting more fluent over a period of months, or
if they seem aware of the dysfluency and frustrated by it.
A conversation costs nothing.

Do you work with swallowing difficulties?

We focus on communication — stroke recovery, stammering,
brain injury, progressive conditions and children's speech
and language. For swallowing (dysphagia) support we can
point you towards colleagues who specialise in that area.

Can we do sessions online?

Yes. Many of the approaches we use work really well online,
and it often means you can fit therapy around work and
family life more easily.

Do you visit at home?

Yes — we offer home visits across South Devon where that
works better than coming to the clinic (for example after
a stroke, or for children who are more settled at home).
